YP Volunteer Event – Stormwater Planter Cleanup on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail

June 11, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Indiana Section AWWA Young Professionals will be joining the IWEA YPs and the American Society of Civil Engineers in a volunteer effort to help clean out the stormwater planters on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail.  The Indianapolis DPW has outfitted the cultural trail with stormwater planters as a form of green infrastructure on our downtown streets.  Stormwater planters use bioretention practices to collect and filter water through various layers of vegetation and soils, which reduces flooding and pollution, and helps to recharge our groundwater.  This sustainable, green infrastructure can only work if it is properly maintained, so join us for this volunteer event which will help to preserve our Indianapolis streets.  Families and friends are all welcome to participate.  Please RSVP by Friday, May 27th if you plan to attend.  This event will be followed by lunch / happy hour for anyone that is interested.
