Part-Time Engineer I – Utility Engineering Project Coordination

Rate: $39.00–$48.00/hour
Hours: Up to 29 hours per week (schedule TBD)

Are you an engineer looking for flexible, meaningful work that supports Fort Wayne’s growing infrastructure? The City Utilities Engineering team is seeking a Part-Time Engineer I to help coordinate and review utility and development projects that connect with our sewer, water, and stormwater systems.

What You’ll Do:
You’ll collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and outside agencies to review project designs, site development plans, and utility coordination efforts. This includes identifying and resolving conflicts, ensuring compliance with City Utilities standards, and providing technical guidance on infrastructure design and construction.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (Indiana) with experience in civil, site, or utility engineering -or equivalent experience through military or other public infrastructure work.
  • Strong background in design, site development, utility coordination, and sewer, water, and stormwater systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-driven approach.
  • Proficiency with project management tools, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and GIS systems.
