ENGINEER (Entry Level) -- WESSLER ENGINEERING

 

Wessler Engineering is currently accepting resumes for an entry level Engineer in our Indianapolis, IN office.  Responsibilities include design of drinking water, stormwater and wastewater projects.

Candidates must have 0-2 years experience with design and construction of water, wastewater, and stormwater engineering projects.  Candidates should have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution and have certification as an Engineer Intern.  Candidates must be team oriented and have good communication and organizational skills.

TOWN SUPERINTENDENT -- TOWN OF KIRKLIN

 

The Town of Kirklin is currently looking for a full-time person to oversee all aspects of the wastewater treatment plant, the water plant, streets, and general maintenance of the Town.

The job will include managing and scheduling Town employees as well as overseeing the day-to-day functions of the utilities as well as general Town functions.

Applicant must possess the following licenses/certifications:  High School Diploma or GED, Class I Certification for Wastewater, WT3 Water and DSS Certification, and a valid driver's license.

DISTRICT ENGINEER

The Rend Lake Conservancy District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of District Engineer. The primary duties of the position are to oversee the Capital Improvement Program for the District and to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Water and Waste Water Systems.

Engineer Requirements
License Requirements:  IL P.E. License and valid Driver License
Education:  Engineering Degree from ABET accredited university
Mandatory Knowledge/Experience: (5 – 10 yrs. Experience)

  • Water treatment plant equip/system design
  • Process chemistry optimization
  •  Regulatory knowledge (USEPA and IEPA construction permitting, NPDES permitting, disinfection, DBP,  ESWTR, MCLs, ERP, SPCC, sludge disposal, etc.)
  • Transmission and distribution piping systems
  • Pump stations
  • Hydraulic design / modeling
  • Project management
  • Preparation of engineering specifications and drawings for construction bids

Electric/Controls Supervisor 

The Rend Lake Conservancy District, located on scenic Rend Lake in Southern Illinois, is seeking a qualified electric and controls supervisor for the 27 MG water treatment and distribution system. Electric certification or education and 5 years supervisory experience are required. Water and SCADA experience are a plus. Starting salary $54,000 per year.

Operations Supervisor

Location: Terre Haute, Indiana
Employment Type: Full-time Regular
Experience Required: 1 to 3 years.
Education Required: Bachelor's Degree
Primary Role: Directs the day-to-day management, development and operation of metering water for the Company.

Key Accountabilities: Supervises associates engaged in the efficient operation of the Company program for reliable operation, maintenance, protection, and appearance of the property and facilities to provide for distribution of water. Assures that policies, procedures, programs, standards of performance, and approved objectives are adhered to and/or achieved including those involving safety, affirmative action, and labor relations. Responsible for proactive, courteous and responsive customer interface at all times. Plans, prepares, and controls the portion of the financial plan relating to responsibilities. Controls construction, maintenance and operations expenses within established financial plan guidelines.

Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills. Interfaces with managerial, non-managerial, union employees, customers, vendors, contractors and corporate disciplines, such as, Engineering, Water Quality, Safety, etc.

Knowledge: Functional knowledge of water treatment and distribution principles; also knowledge of general safety OSHA regulations.

Licenses/Certifications: State Operators certification desirable. WT3 and water distribution license (DSL) disirable.

Job Description:

The Town of Brownsburg provides reliable and quality drinking water for over 8,000 municipal service connections in Indiana.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures proper system pressures and disinfectant residuals are maintained throughout the distribution systems. Ensures proper operation of all water supply and storage facilities at all times.
  • Responsible for compliance with all operating permits, including DPH, AQMD and others.
  • Develops and implements preventive maintenance programs for all water supply facilities in the District including well treatments and rehabilitations, reservoir cleaning and inspections, pump overhauls, electric motors, SCADA, pump efficiency tests, automatic control valves, motor control centers, gas engines, purification equipment, pump and chemical buildings and structures, fences and gates, lighting, landscaping, paving, testing and repair of production meters, etc. Works with the Assistant Superintendent to ensure proper implementation of maintenance programs.
  • Conducts treatment costs analysis and calculates chemical dosage rates to ensure treatment process optimization.
  • Analyzes groundwater levels and reports any significant variances to management.
  • Develops and maintains an effective employee relations plan; supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; assists Assistant Superintendent in resolving employee problems; and recommends disciplinary action for assigned staff.
  • Participates in selection of staff; ensures staff meets the required training relative to job responsibilities and annual minimum hourly training requirements
  • Regularly inspects direct reports work in progress and provides direction as needed
  • Ensures all water supply facilities, and operations and maintenance programs, comply with applicable Federal, State and local ordinances and regulations
  • Ensures proper “mix” of purchased water and groundwater is maintained in the District, according to rate case filings.
  • Reviews invoices for all purchased water, purchased power and pump taxes. Reports any anomalies to management.
  • Supervises the administration of contracts and inspection for water supply maintenance programs
  • Develops and oversees compliance with Operations & Maintenance budget and applicable Capital Budget items for area of control
  • Participates in capital budget planning, rate case planning and long-term planning.
  • Responds to water supply and water quality customer inquiries, both external and internal to the company
  • Communicates both orally and written, with local government officials, company management and staff, customers
  • Acts for the Assistant Town Manager as directed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Works limited direction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required: Includes Technical Skills and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent • Minimum of five years progressive water industry experience, of which at least four years includes significant, advanced experience in water supply and distribution activities. • Currently hold a WT3 Indiana Department of Environmental Management treatment plant operator certification, Indiana Department of Environmental Management DSL Water Distribution certification • currently hold a valid State of Indiana Drivers license • Ability to support complex projects. • Must possess demonstrated writing skills. • Ability to select and evaluate employees; develop and train employee and provide performance feedback • Familiar with basic PC applications. • Valid Indiana driver’s license. • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Work Environment:  The primary work environment is in the field and at various water supply facilities. Incumbent may be required to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
