Meeting called to order and the minuets from the last meeting were approved.

Mark Basch, IDNR, reported on the progress of the water shortage committee.
Discussion included:
  • For more information, including updated statistics and charts, please visit the DNR Water Shortage Web site.
  • Must get the message out to AWWA members about the importance of the committee and the future legislation. The legislature must be made aware of how important it will be to fund the restoration of wellpoints for monitoring water levels.
  • New business in Indiana, especially ethanol plants, has greatly impacted water demand.
  • Perhaps use AWWA to drive a initiative to support reactivation of stream gauges, groundwater stations, etc. Could partner with state emergency agency, universities with hydrology departments and the power industry.
Vince Griffin provided an update on last legislative session.

New members were introduced: Lou Ann Baker from Veolia Water Indianapolis and Joe Woodward from Indiana American Water.
