David Hardy, new IURC Chair, presented his thoughts/goals. “We’re delighted to do anything we can to make your lives easier,” but understand that there may be some things we can’t comment on or answer.

Vince Griffin provided an update on legislation of interest, including SB369 (Indiana Water Shortage Plan) and HB1076 (contracts for public water and wastewater projects).

Kari Evans provided an update on legislation of interest and the Governor’s office’s perspective on those and EQSC topics for the upcoming interim session.

WUC issues
Lobby week: We will work to expand our connections with legislators including the section exec committee and select members in areas we do not have WUC or exec committee representation. Please send Beth any ideas for information, materials, events, other support we can provide.

Fly in: Jim Williams: lot of talk about the David vs. Goliath effort in defeating the MTBE amnesty. Big oil spent tons and tons of money on the lobby efforts; National AWWA spent about $100,000 and lots of grass roots efforts.

John Stancati received confirmation from Governor’s office that they received his letter nominating John Hardwick and Art Umble to the EQSC. He will follow up with Kari to see what else could help further their appointment.

Meeting adjourned.
