  • Thanks to everyone who lobbied against the MTBE safe harbor in energy bill

  • Reviewed Melissa Moran's AWWA National Fly-In report from meetings with Indiana delegates, since she was unable to attend this meeting.

Vince Griffin, Indiana Chamber of Commerce

John Hardwick, 2005 legislative effort

  • This year, we will have smaller reception - key legislative officials and a small number of WUC people – in January (earliest part of legislative session)

  • In addition, we will have a Lobby Week, before things get heated up for new session. All WUC members are encouraged to meet their legislators during this week - could be a tour at facility, invite to lunch, coffee, etc. The goal is merely to get acquainted, not necessary to voice strong opinions about issues.

  • Kate Hollcraft, Borshoff Johnson Matthews, presented plans for Lobby Week.

  • Introduce ourselves as the best source for legislators if they have questions about any number of water issues: drinking, waste, storm waters. Share quality issues, build a relationship as a resource.

  • John Stancati is going to try to plan a meeting at the South Bend facility to promote a relationship with his legislators.

Pat Carroll, IDEM

  • June 8 board meeting adopted changes to construction permitting rules for simple equipment at small transient and non-transient non-community systems. Should be effect at the end of the year

  • Circulated the summary of changes proposed to drinking water operator certification regulations, monthly reports of operation and sanitary surveys.

Meeting adjourned at 3:30
