- Does not anticipate changes to the Drinking Water Branch
- Will investigate IDEM’s lack of presence at conferences and opportunities to communicate with drinking water providers.
- Is using 12 recommendations from the efficiency task force as his roadmap for agency improvements
Legislative review Legislative reception update - As of Feb. 18, 40 legislators have RSVPed yes and there will be 30 friends, WUC members and Executive Committee members
- Please be sure to wear your conference credentials; we will not have nametags for WUC members
- Please be sure your legislator receives a copy of “What is AWWA?” and that you cover the key points of SBs 44 and 169.
Other business - John Hardwick: working on next year’s budget; WUC is cutting back on consultant budget to send a second person to the National Fly-In in 2006.
- Melissa Moran: National Fly-In is April 11 and 12; should be hearing soon about the national issues.
- Bill Etzler was just appointed to the board of Indiana Underground Plant Protection.
- Odetta Caldwell: Indiana Rural Water Association is getting started on a joint contract with IDEM and AWWA; also planning conference for April 18-20.
- John Stancati: Congratulations to John Hardwick for doing an outstanding job his first year as chair of the Water Utility Council.
